![]() There are 15 exploratory wells drilled so far but none of them are producing, but wells like Kasargod-1, KK-OS-V1-1 and CSP-1 show faint oil fluorescence. This basin covers an area of around 580,000 Sq.Km. Drilling results and adsorbed gas anomalies confirm generation of hydrocarbons in the basin. Post-rift mature sediments with sufficient organic carbon content are present in the basin. The basin evolved through early rift and post rift phases and contains more than 5 km of Cretaceous to Recent sediments. ![]() ![]() Geographic Location of Kerala-Konkan Basin On the eastern side it is bounded by peninsular shield. Westward, the basin extends to Arabian Abyssal plain.
